Penny Cole Counselling Counselling and Psychotherapy in Odiham

About Penny

Motivated by a desire to help others, I started my professional life by studying law at Cardiff University and qualified as a solicitor. I started practice in law in New Zealand where I represented clients caught up in the criminal justice system. Moving back to the UK I moved into the commercial world and practiced as an employment lawyer. However I discovered that a career in law was not for me, and later, I studied at Regent's College London where I was awarded a Masters Degree in Psychotherapy & Counselling and a Post Graduate Diploma in Psychotherapy and Counselling.

Whilst in training as a psychotherapist, I gained experience in a variety of settings, including an NHS Hospital where I worked as an Honorary Psychotherapist, community counselling services, and a university counselling service.

I no longer hold a solicitor's practicing certificate, and currently, alongside my psychotherapy practice, I work part-time as a Workplace Mediator helping individuals deal with their conflicts in the workplace. Whilst I make sure I keep my two professions completely separate, I find they complement each other and enable me to keep apace with developments in the workplace which many people find influence how they are within themselves.

My formal qualifications are:

Advanced Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy (Regent's University)
MA Psychotherapy & Counselling (City)
LLb (Hons)
Accredited Mediator (Regent's University)

I am a Member of UKCP (United Kingdom for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and as such, I am bound by the Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy and subject to the Professional Conduct Procedure currently in force.
